27. Making latex pieces

For my slush mould i began with using the moulds i created out of plaster, (the ones made out of the sculpted animals). I began with powdering the moulds making it dry so the latex wouldn’t stick within the moulds wall then I placed a layer of latex into the mould and dried it out with a hair dryer, once dried out I again placed powder (talcum powder) before applying another layer of latex. I carried out this process until i was satisfied with the amount of layers i had applied. After applying the last layer of latex i simply powdered and slowly peeled the house out of the mould.

The whole concept of making these animals was so i can apply them onto the body of my model. Where i had previously painted a silhouette of animals around my practice model, i decided i wanted to further develop this idea and make the silhouettes stand out more, a further 3D effect on the animals.

Hence making these 3D animals out of latex in which will go all the way around the body, eventually i will colour these pieces in black so i can make sure they will look like 3D silhouettes.
